highlights of the week

(Finally) ChatGPT Advanced Voice Mode is here!

After much anticipation, OpenAI's latest feature, Advanced Voice Mode, is now live for alpha users!

With this update, you can talk with ChatGPT in real time and interrupt it like in natural conversation. It can also sense your emotions and respond with a corresponding tone.

All the plus users will be updated with this feature by the fall. And it will be a huge leap in productivity. Here are some use cases you can leverage the Advanced Voice Mode:

  • Translate real-time conversations or learn a new language
  • Provide step-by-step instructions, for example, to fix a bicycle
  • Engage in a coaching session with a person of your choice

ChatGPT-4o is no longer at top 1

For the first time ever, Google surpasses all LLM models to be at the top 1 LMSYS Chatbot Arena ranking with its Gemini 1.5 Pro.

For those unfamiliar with all the technical terms, LMSYS Chatbot is a user-ranking system for all chatbots in the market. It’s based on how well the model works for users and how they perceive the quality of the model’s response.

This model, though, is still in its early stages and is mainly for getting feedback from developers. You can play around with Gemini 1.5 Pro here

I wonder if OpenAI should be concerned about this, especially with the recent departure of its 3 key leaders, or if ChatGPT will again be at the top with its coming updates.
