highlights of the week

OpenAI Is Considering a $2000 monthly subscription

OpenAI is reportedly considering introducing a new high-end subscription tier for its AI services, such as Strawberry and Orion, which could cost as much as $2,000 per month.

  • Project Strawberry: Focuses on improving AI's reasoning capabilities to make models more human-like, enhancing their ability to do deep research, math, and programming problems.
  • Orion is a flagship language model designed to “outperform GPT-4”.

These models are rumored to be integrated into ChatGPT, creating a “premium tier” subscription. The price might sound shocking, but for now, most people highly doubt this would be the final price. This price “water-testing” from OpenAI matters not only to the company but also to its competitors, such as Anthropic and Google, in planning their next steps.

I have to admit that the number makes me curious about how good the model could be for them to confidently charge at that price.

It's true. Any number would make sense if the model can generate a higher value than its price. Regardless, OpenAI has successfully built up the hype about what their next models can do.

Anthropic Joins the Enterprise Party with Claude

Claude has been working hard to deliver this summer. They have launched Claude for Enterprise with key new features:

  • Expanded Context Window: 500K tokens, which can be translated into Up to 100 30-minute sales transcripts, 100K lines of code, and 15 full financial reports.
  • Native GitHub Integration (big win for developers): Syncs repositories for collaborative work on codebases.
  • Enterprise-Grade Security: Features like Single Sign-On (SSO), role-based access, audit logs, and SCIM support.
  • No Training on Customer Data: Ensures privacy by not using conversations or content to train models.

Anthropic has not publicly disclosed a fixed price for Claude for Enterprise. Positioned as an ethical AI, Anthropic emphasizes security and risk management more than its competitors.

My guess is Claude for Enterprise would be more interesting to tech companies and developers. Let’s see how it will perform in the next few months!
