Highlights of the week
First “Miss AI” Beauty Pageant: The enter of AI into the human world
Fanvue company, in partnership with the World AI Creator Awards (WAICA), organizes “Miss AI” - the first-ever beauty contest for AI creators.
The contestants will be judged based on their “beauty, tech, and clout” by two human and two AI judges.
If you are wondering: “Huh? AI creators?”
Unlike the recent strike of AI clones, AI influencers were first created in 2016. Over the years, they have become more candid, human-like, and powerful in marketing.
Lu do Magazu (@magazineluiza) has the highest number of followers at 6.9 million, followed by Lil Miquela (@lilmiquela) at 2.6 million, and many other AI influencer profiles.
It’s interesting to see how AI advancement is measured not only based on how well it can solve logical problems but also on its human likeness and how well it can blend in with the human race.
I wrote about AI clones in Stay Ahead 18, and recently, the world was shocked again when Reid Hoffman, LinkedIn co-founder, let his AI twin interview him. The clone now has more facial expressions, hand movements, and a realistic tone.
Our February 2024 report shows that Character AI, which lets users chat with 18 million AI characters, ranked fourth among the 150 most-used AI tools. People love human connection, and surprisingly, they can find that in AI characters.
Does that mean the distinguishing line between AI and humans is blurred? Will AI become just “another human”?
“Miss AI” is criticized as “AI models don’t disrupt traditional beauty standards; they exaggerate them.”
WAICA describes this competition as “futuristic,” others say it’s a “toxic-feeling stunt.”
Blending in, advancing the human race, or both, which would be the future of AI and humans?
